Dance Dance Revolution:

Disney Channel Edition

The Disney Channel Edition of DDR was released in early January 2008, and is an excellent DDR game version for elementary age students and young teens. Featuring music and characters from popular Disney Channel programs like The Suite Life of Zack and Cody, That’s So Raven, Hannah Montana, and Kim Possible, along with selections from Disney’s High School Musical movies, this edition of DDR is very appropriate and appealing to younger players.

Game navigation and play is consistent with other DDR games. Here is a quick guide for playing DDR Disney Channel Edition in a class setting:

· After loading the game and touching the Start button, select Workout mode by scrolling with the down arrow, then touch X.

· Select Guest option when the screen prompts a user selection. Touch X.

In lieu of the
Guest option, you may choose to create a User File which will allow you to track cumulative exercise for all your classes. Up to 10 separate User Files may be created.

· The game will prompt completion of personal workout data, but because you will have multiple students playing, simply scroll down to OK, and touch X.

· The next screen will offer selection of a character from a Disney program which will appear on screen during game play. We suggest choosing a male character for one dance pad, and a female character for the second dance pad. (Note: you may want to choose characters in advance to save class time by avoiding a discussion about which characters to choose!)

· The next screen will offer dance difficulty options and music selections.

Dance Difficulty: If DDR is being played for the first time in PE class, highlight Beginner level for both dance pads using the up and down arrows to highlight Beginner difficulty level. Once your class becomes comfortable with DDR dance steps, difficulty level can be increased to Basic or even Difficult for one or both dance pads.

Music Selection: All songs on the DDR Disney Channel Edition are perfectly appropriate for young students. Simply use the side arrows to highlight desired song title, and touch X to start the dance. Playing each song selection at least twice in a row helps students build their confidence as they learn to anticipate dance step patterns.

· Once the song selection ends, the Exercise Window automatically appears. Here you can see the number of calories burned, along with a comparison to equivalent distance jogged. Touch the Triangle button (lower left on dance pad) to return to the Music Selection screen.
