About DDR
Dance Dance Revolution (DDR) is an active video game requiring players to dance to instructions on a TV or projection screen. Most middle and high school students are familiar with the game because it has been popular in video arcades since the late 1990s. The home version offers a revolutionary video gaming alternative that is extremely active, fun, and can be played any time of year.
DDR has been widely recognized for its fitness benefits, and has been adapted by many schools across the country and incorporated as part of the Physical Education and Health curriculum. The game may be used as a large or small group activity in a PE class setting.
The purpose of this guide is three-fold:
1. Outline the equipment you need to make DDR part of your PE curriculum. 2. Familiarize you with setting up and navigating the DDR game. 3. Provide ideas and tips for effectively adapting DDR to a large PE class setting. |
